- The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) announced a new partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
- The aim is to create a framework to standardise airtime recharge operations.
NCC’s CEO, Dr. Aminu Maida, explained:
- Subscribers have long complained about failed recharges and data issues.
- Common complaints included:
- Being debited without receiving credit during airtime top-up.
- Cases of data depletion.
- Instances of poor network quality.
- In response, NCC and CBN formed a joint task force.
- The task force is currently reviewing a framework designed to unify operations around top-ups and recharges.
- This framework is intended to:
- Standardise recharge processes across the telecom-financial ecosystem.
- Ensure transparency and fairness for subscribers.
- Maida also revealed that:
- The Commission has revised its Quality of Service (QoS) guidelines.
- Strengthened its regulatory oversight on service delivery.
- The framework and guidelines reflect NCC’s ongoing consumer protection focus.
