- The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) have signed an MoU to conduct a National Energy Survey.
- The survey will use the World Bank’s Multi-Tier Tracking Framework (MTF) to assess electricity access across Nigeria.
- It will generate data on electricity availability, affordability, reliability, and off-grid energy solutions.
- Special focus will be on rural and underserved communities.
- Findings will guide national energy planning and policies, including the National Electrification Strategy and Implementation Plan (NESIP).
- REA’s MD/CEO, Dr. Abba Aliyu, praised NBS and its Statistician-General, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, for their technical support.
- The collaboration, backed by the World Bank through ESMAP, strengthens Nigeria’s commitment to data-driven and transparent energy planning.
