FEC Approves Major Infrastructure, Security, and Industrial Projects to Boost Nigeria’s Growth

Major Approvals from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) Meeting – December 10, 2025

1. Aviation Sector Upgrades
  • Government approved major modernization of airports and communication systems.
  • Lagos and Abuja airports will get advanced safety systems (A-SMGCS).
  • Eight airports to receive new modular control towers.
  • A new system will detect communication interference between planes and ground control.
  • VHF radio communication systems to be upgraded in nine airports.
  • Biometric e-gates to be installed at all international airports for faster passenger processing.
  • Overall goal: safer flights, better airport operations, and improved passenger experience.
2. Industry, Trade & Investment Decisions
a. Nigeria Industrial Policy 2025
  • New long-term plan to grow industries in Nigeria.
  • Focuses on infrastructure, diversification, investment climate, innovation, and sustainability.
  • Promotes industrial clusters, SEZs, local manufacturing, and technology transfer.
b. Electric Buses Procurement
  • Government approved 200 electric buses for NADDC at ₦58 billion.
  • Emphasis on local assembly to boost Nigeria’s electric mobility and auto sector.
c. New BOI Headquarters
  • New BOI HQ to be built at Eko Atlantic for ₦187.8 billion.
  • Expected to strengthen BOI’s capacity for SME and industrial financing.
d. Lekki Medical Tourism Park Roads
  • Approval for internal and access roads in Lekki Medical Tourism Park.
  • Aims to attract medical tourism investments.
e. Hosting the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF)
  • Nigeria will host the next IATF in Lagos.
  • National Arts Theatre to serve as the main venue.
  • Expected to boost trade and investment under AfCFTA.
3. Security Enhancements
  • Forest guards nationwide will now be armed.
  • They will operate under the National Security Adviser.
  • Purpose: improve security in forests, tackle banditry, kidnapping, and illegal mining.
4. Tourism & Cultural Development
  • Government approved Tourism and Cultural Economic Zones in all six geopolitical zones + FCT.
  • Each zone will include cultural centers, creative hubs, and tourism infrastructure.
  • Designed to create jobs, attract investment, and revive sites like Obudu Ranch and Yankari Game Reserve.
