July 2024: Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, led by Olasijibomi “Suji” Ogundele, was awarded a ₦11.4 billion contract to build 22 Smart Green Schools in Enugu State.
The Enugu State Government paid ₦5.7 billion mobilisation fee (50% of the contract sum).
After receiving the funds, Ogundele allegedly abandoned the project sites at the foundation or damp-proof course levels.
He also reportedly failed to attend scheduled meetings with government officials.
In May 2025, a joint inspection by the EFCC and Ministry of Works confirmed the sites were abandoned.
Investigators raised concerns that, although Ogundele submitted a performance bond from Jaiz Bank, the mobilisation funds were instead routed through his Zenith Bank account, suggesting attempts to shield Jaiz Bank from liability.
Following these findings, the Enugu State Government terminated the contract and reassigned the projects to new contractors.
The EFCC stated Ogundele is wanted for diverting public funds and laundering criminal proceeds.
Official notice was issued by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, asking the public to provide information on Ogundele’s whereabouts.
